Following UTRA’s mission - to foster creativity and innovation, and cultivate science and technology leaders of the future by providing students with the opportunities to design and build advanced robotic technologies. The team started planning for this event with a mindset of “Design, Build, Inspire”. Without limitation on the design scope, we believe this event could bring a variety of brilliant ideas and creative minds together.
UTRA stands for the University of Toronto Robotics Association. We are the largest active robotics group on campus. Our mission is to foster interests in robotics, and teach anybody who is interested all that they need to know to be able to contribute. We are currently running 5 sub-teams at varying technical skill levels, making it easy for both beginners and veterans to embrace their passion in robotics. Our 5 sub-teams include SUMO, RoboSoccer, Combat, Autonomous Rover Team (ART), and Robonars. Visit our website, www.utra.ca for more information!
We aim to inspire creativity, enable collaboration and foster skill development. Participants can connect face-to-face, collaborate with global students, and engage with industry leaders and mentors. The event sparks inspiration and opens minds to endless possibilities. Hackers of all experience levels can join workshops, tech talks, and career sessions to learn something new. UTRA Hacks supports participants by providing necessary equipment, so that the sky's the limit!
1. Beginner theme: “Robots for Everyday Life - A Better You!”
2. Advanced theme: “Robots for Sustainability and Conservation - A Better Canada!"
These themes provide a specific focus on robotics and encourage participants to think about how robots can make a positive impact on everyday life and environmental sustainability. It allows participants to explore a wide range of applications and challenges, catering to both beginners and professionals.
The top prizes are 3D printers (1 per group member) and Raspberry Pi Zero Kits (1 per group member). There will be runner up prizes as well!
UTRAHacks will be hosted at the Myhal centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto, on November 4-5, 2023.
